J K Rowling "didn't realise that she was writing fantasy novel ? How dumb is that woman? I like Terry Pratchett's side swipe - I would have thought that the wizards, witches, trolls, unicorns, hidden worlds, jumping chocolate frogs, owl mail, magic food, ghosts, broomsticks and spells would have given her a clue? . Mind you, I get the feeling this is probably just an example of literary snobbery to the fantasy genre. It is odd to hear it coming from a fantasy author though.

And this! - Rowling said she was "not a huge fan of fantasy" and was trying to "subvert" the genre. . Subvert it? Shamelessly pillage it is more like it!

Have a look at the Neil Gaiman feed on my flist - he reckons she has been misquoted quite extensively and that PTerry wasn't trying to slag her off, he was getting pissed at the journalists who blindly seem to believe she is the only writer of fantasy around.

It's not unusual for people that don't like fantasy to end up writing it...

Look at how long I ended up writing plot for LAGSoc.
